What have you been doing for the past 60 years?:
I graduated from Ringling School of Art in Sarasota Florida with a degree in advertising and graphic arts. I traveled throughout the U. S. working as a free lance graphic artist and designer. After working in Oregon, Washington, Arizona, California, and New Orleans, I came back home to Jacksonville. I returned to school at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida where I received degrees in Psychology and Fine Arts. Again, I took advantage of an amazing opportunity to travel and study fine art in Europe. Again, I found my way back to Jacksonville and into a very rewarding 30 year career as a graphic artist for Civil Service Navy Department of Defense. After retiring from Civil Service in 2004 I was able to devote all of my time to my avocation and passion…..dance. So, in addition to my career and raising a beautiful daughter, I pursued Middle Eastern Dance (belly dance). I have been dancing and teaching now for over 35 years. My passion for the dance, music, and Middle Eastern culture inspired me to travel and do research in Egypt and Morocco. I currently teach belly dance through the Duval County Community Education program at Ed White High School. I am the director and choreographer of two local dance troupes. Information about them can be found at www.saharasilk.com. I am married and have one amazing and talented daughter. I feel I have truly been blessed. |
